Why Gratitude Matters More Than Ever

By Scott McCord, AAMS®, BFA™

‘Tis the season of gratitude. Thanksgiving reminds us of what truly matters—if we take the time to notice. Amid constant headlines, market chatter, and daily busyness, it’s easy to miss the quiet blessings around us. Yet, when practiced intentionally, gratitude has the powerful ability to calm the mind and steady the heart.

Gratitude doesn’t mean ignoring challenges or pretending everything is perfect. It simply shifts our focus from what’s missing to what’s already good. It reminds us that peace and joy aren’t found in circumstances, but in perspective. We can’t control what the markets do or how the world behaves, but we can control how we respond—and gratitude helps us respond with clarity instead of anxiety.

Intentional Thanksgiving gratitude

Each of us has reasons to feel grateful, even during tough times. A simple meal with loved ones. A friend who listens. Lessons learned from mistakes. The freedom to start again. These moments might seem small, but together they build the foundation of a meaningful life. Gratitude transforms everyday experiences into lasting memories and helps us see abundance where we once saw scarcity.

Take a moment each day to think about something you’re grateful for. Write it down, say it out loud, or share it with someone. Though the act may seem small, its effect can be significant. Gratitude grows when it’s expressed—fostering contentment, patience, and resilience. When we nurture it, worry loses its hold, and peace takes root.

Thank You

I am truly grateful for you. Thank you for your trust and confidence, and for remaining committed even when the way seems uncertain. Thank you for allowing me to guide you through the highs and lows, for believing in the process, and for choosing me as your partner on this journey.

May this season bring perspective, peace, and plenty of reasons to be thankful.

Stay grateful (and relentless),

Scott
